Frequently Asked Questions
1) What makes LDA different than other dance studios?
Our faculty have collegiate degrees in dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This program is ranked in the top five collegiate dance programs every year and is highly competitive. We also have choreographed and performed with professional dance companies and remain active in the dance community.
2) What is a “sprung floor” and why is it important?
Both of our dance studios have sprung floors. This is also known as a floating floor, with several interlocking layers of wood and thick foam cellulose underneath the vinyl covering. This is essential for a dancer’s safety as this type of flooring provides shock absorption. Dancing directly on concrete or tile leads to more injuries and risk to the dancer. This is why LDA only uses sprung flooring.
